Both the Paslode Finish Nailer -16 Gauge Angled and the Paslode Finish Nailer -16 Gauge Straight are both impressive pieces of machinery. I was skeptical at first when we decided to go down the path of cordless finishing guns as I just didn’t honestly think they were up to the task.
These guns are used in our business day in day out for the high volume work in cabinetry, attaching skirting boards, architraves to internal walls and door jambs and doorways. We can fully trim out a 3 bedroom house in within a day. So our guns really need to keep up.
Well I was completely wrong. These little guns have exceptional power and performance providing consistent energy to take on the toughest jobs. For their size and weight (4.9 lbs) these guns have a very well-balanced design. They have great a consistency to deliver nail after nail in all types of hard or soft timber.
This Paslode Nailer is so easy on the arms with the rubberized handles. They are very comfortable to hold, even when you are nailing all day long. Although the to guns perform in the same manner there are some subtle difference between the two guns.
These Are:
Angled Nailer (20 deg angle).
- The Angled Nailer is perfect for its ability to get into tight corners without hoses in the way, especially when trimming internal corners.
- This gun with its open line of sight is so suited to applying skirting boards, trim-work and architraves that quite frankly no other nail gun gets a look in.
Straight Nailer.
- The straight nailer is also good for applying skirting boards, trim-work and architraves, but does have difficulty in tighter corners.
- This gun is perfect for cabinetry work where you need the nail to go in straight every time. Plus no hoses draped over, snagged and around your work is a big thumbs up in my book.
Performance on the job
Both these Paslode Finish nailers stand up to the pounding that our carpenters deliver to them on a daily basis. The primary reason that we love to use these nail guns is the light and compact size makes it perfect for jobs where larger guns just won’t fit.
The guns that we own have never let us down in regards to breakage or malfunctions. Jams do happen on occasion but the quick release nose makes it easy to unjam and to move on. The high-capacity magazine (which holds up to 100 nails) is an awesome productivity design with minimal re-loading a big benefit.
The distinct advantage is there is no more dragging around hoses, or bulky compressors. A complaint we used to get all the time is that dragging dirty hoses inside freshly plastered houses can destroy the external corners. Not a good look, but now that problem is solved.
Some other great features that keeps the job rolling is the tool less depth of drive knob that works very well for setting the nail head depth. This minimizes damage to timber and trim work. These nail guns have no problem driving a 2-inch long finish nail completely into maple shoe molding and into the plywood sub-bases.
